About Leslie Nics
I built Travel Value Finder for a simple reason: I wanted to make better travel decisions without spending hours trying to work out what a trip would really cost.
Since retiring, I’ve had more freedom to travel, but I’ve also become much more interested in the difference between a trip that looks cheap and one that actually represents good value.
That’s what I research.
I compare accommodation, flights, food, transportation, activities and the less obvious costs that can turn an apparently affordable destination into an expensive one. I also look at how long you really need in a destination, how to structure an itinerary, and whether a place is actually a good fit for the kind of traveler you are.
Travel Value Finder grew out of that process.
Today, I lead the site’s research and editorial work, and I oversee the tools that help travellers compare destinations, estimate trip costs and build practical itineraries.
What I focus on
- Real-world travel costs and destination comparisons
- Budget travel without sacrificing comfort or experience
- Travel planning and realistic itineraries
- Retirement and long-term travel
- Finding genuine value rather than simply finding the lowest price
I don’t believe “budget travel” has to mean traveling badly.
The goal is to spend your money where it matters, avoid unnecessary costs, and get more from the time you have.
That’s the idea behind Travel Value Finder.

How I Research Travel
Travel information changes constantly, so I treat every destination as a moving target.
I use current pricing, public data, travel-industry information, direct verification where possible, and comparisons across multiple sources. Important figures are treated as estimates rather than promises, and I encourage readers to verify prices and travel requirements before booking.
My approach is designed to be independent, practical and transparent. If information changes or something is found to be inaccurate, it should be corrected rather than quietly left in place.
